Ian Layton was born in Mexborough in 1953, and expressed an interest in painting from an early age.

Growing success as an Artist allowed him to fulfil his desire to paint on his own terms. His paintings are a celebration of light and atmosphere, he particularly enjoys capturing the transient aspects of weather and the “coutre jour” effect of painting directly into the light.

He has displayed his work at many prestigious exhibitions, including: The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Society of British Artists, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Discerning Eye, and The New English Art Club at the Mall Galleries London.

The Alexander Miles Gallery features a wealth of stunning oil paintings for sale. Browsing and buying art online is simple with our new webstore. Here you can discover all kinds of inspiring artwork for sale from figurative to abstract, landscapes to still life.
